More strikeouts in MLB The Show 26 start with what the hitter has already seen, not how hard you can throw. Before picking your next pitch, check the count and think back through the at-bat. Did they swing late Leave something low alone Those reactions give you a starting point. If you're browsing MLB 26 stubs while considering roster changes, keep pitch selection in mind too. A pitcher whose deliveries you can place consistently may suit you better than one with impressive velocity but awkward options.

Make the next pitch tell a different story

A useful sequence gives the hitter something to respect, then changes the picture. Try establishing a fastball for a strike before moving to a slower pitch near the bottom of the zone. It isn't a script, though. If they're watching everything low, another ball in the dirt probably won't help. Use Pitch History and Batter Analysis where available to review the matchup, then respond to what's happening. You're looking for a contrast in speed, height, or movement, not simply cycling through every pitch on the selection screen.

Let the count shape your target

At 0-0, choose something you can land without making your opening location obvious every time. At 0-1, you've got room to change the hitter's timing while still threatening the zone. At 0-2 or 1-2, a slider moving away or a changeup finishing low can work, provided your pitcher has it and you can control it. Keep the miss believable. At 2-2, reconsider a finish they've already ignored. At 3-2, trust your most reliable offering rather than reaching for movement you can't locate.

Choose pairings you can actually execute

A high fastball followed by a lower breaking ball makes the hitter adjust their eyes as well as their swing. A fastball and changeup create a different timing problem. With a cutter or sinker, you can change direction without relying on a huge speed gap. Pick the pairing that feels manageable with your pitching interface. There's little value in a clever setup if the finishing pitch keeps drifting over the middle. Watch stamina, too, and avoid treating maximum effort as the answer to every difficult count.

Notice when your plan stops working

Players often stick with a sequence because it worked once. That's when the pattern becomes easy to read. If the hitter keeps taking your finish, move closer to the zone or establish a different threat first. If your control slips, simplify the target instead of chasing a perfect corner. Even when comparing cheap MLB 26 stubs for roster planning, remember that better cards won't make every decision for you. Keep adapting, accept useful contact, and save your strongest finishing pitch for a count where it makes sense.
