Belial is worth building a farming route around when your Diablo 4 endgame character still needs a particular ancestral or mythic unique. The appeal isn't just another boss fight: after the encounter, you can direct the reward towards another Lair Boss's loot pool. That gives each run a clear purpose, especially when you're short on time and don't want every upgrade to depend on a broad loot roll. A few planned sessions can help you decide which D4 items deserve your next push, rather than spending time without a specific goal.
Build a Key Supply Before You Go
The route begins with ordinary Lair Keys. Helltide events and Tortured Gifts are useful places to pick them up, so collect a decent stack before heading to the lesser bosses. The Beast in the Ice, Grigoire and Lord Zir are part of the setup, not just stops on the way to Belial. Open their Lair Boss Hoards and watch for the weaker Belial ambush. Beating that version can grant a Superior Lair Key, which you'll need for the reward hoard after the main encounter. Make the Palace Fight Manageable
With Superior Lair Keys in hand, travel to the Palace of the Deceiver in Amber Sands, west of the Tarsarak Waypoint in northern Kehjistan. The fight is available on Torment I or higher. You can start the encounter without paying a key, which gives you room to learn Belial's moves before committing a Superior Key to the full reward loop. Keep moving when his claw attacks sweep across the arena, and leave the poison pools quickly. Poison resistance helps, but it won't save you from standing in overlapping hazards. A mobile build with solid burst damage can shorten the fight and make repeat runs less of a slog.
Keep the Rotation Practical
Think of the farm as two linked jobs: lesser bosses supply chances at Superior Lair Keys, while Belial turns those keys into a more focused reward. If the ambush takes longer than expected, clear the fight safely rather than trying to force a fast finish. Between runs, check your key count and repair your gear. It's a small pause, but it can spare you an unplanned trip back to town halfway through a rotation. If your damage is already high, prioritise clean movement and quick boss transitions over adding more risk for a marginal time saving.
Choose a Reward Pool That Fits Your Build
After defeating Belial, use one Superior Lair Key to open his Lair Boss Hoard. The interface lets you select another Lair Boss's loot pool, so choose the one that matches the unique you're after instead of picking blindly. Each successful run is described as guaranteeing an ancestral unique, making the reward choice especially useful when a build is missing one key piece. Keep notes on which pool you select and what your character still needs; it's an easy way to avoid repeating a choice that no longer fits.
